How too donate money too small african community project?

doing a 600 mile cycle ride for sponsorship, hoping too get quite a bit of money and wnat too put it towards projects in africa. Anyway of giving it too a very local project where effects are more obvious, eg. towards small village of 60 people or so and providing medication or water pump too entire village, any way of doing this ? like sponsoring a child but a village
