The sims life stories?

during riley's story, all of a sudden i get this error message that says the game has encountered a problem and will go back to where i last saved it. also when/right before this happens, riley's aunt reappears and give her a kiss like she does when she first gets there and tells her the house is hers... is anyone else having this problem? i've already uninstalled and re-installed the game, hoping to fix this problem but so far... no good. any tips? thanks!
